IT TAKES LITTLE TO BE BIG
You have the opportunity to impact the life of a youth and help to ignite their power and potential.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County (also serving Shenandoah County) provides local youth with strong, enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships. You make a difference as a mentor to a local youth (ages 5-14). Seriously, you don’t need special skills, talents, or prior mentoring experience. It just takes a little time, a little encouragement, and a laugh or two, so every youth has what – and who – they need to achieve a bigger and brighter future. Mentorship sounds huge, but guess what? IT TAKES LITTLE TO BE BIG! Volunteer requirements are to be 18 years or older and willing to complete screening (interview, background checks, etc.). Click on "VOLUNTEER NOW" to learn more and get started making a difference.

Unique Opportunity for Couples
The Big Couples Program is a Community-Based match very similar to that of the one-to-one program, except that the married couples, or those in a committed long-term relationship, are matched together with one Little Brother or Little Sister.
They still meet with their Little and participate in various activities, but the Big Couple program provides the Bigs with some flexibility.
They can hang out with a Little as a couple, but if one person is particularly busy one week, then the other can spend time with the Little individually. The Little benefits not only from adding two new caring people into their life, but they also gets to see first-hand how two adults interact in a healthy, loving relationship.
At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we’re always looking for more couples to be mentors. Fact is, we have boys and girls ready and waiting to be matched with role models. So tell the couples you know to sign up to become Bigs. They can do all the fun things they love to do already, like go to the park, play board games or go to the movies—only now they'd get to enjoy it with a child who can truly benefit from it.
