For the third consecutive year, Dean Brothers, Inc. will serve as the presenting sponsor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County’s signature, annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser. Dean Brothers is one of the area’s leading electrical contracting firms, serving the Shenandoah Valley since 1985. Through Bowl for Kids’ Sake sponsorship and team participation, Dean Brothers has provided $17,000 in financial support to local youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters [BBBS] since 2015.
“An investment in Big Brothers Big Sisters is an investment in the future of our community,” says Vice President Steve Dean. “Giving children mentors to support them through critical years in their lives means more kids making better decisions, achieving higher goals, and eventually becoming positively-contributing citizens.”
This year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Valley Lanes and will feature a beach theme. Each year the event provides nearly ¼ of the funds it takes for the agency to provide professionally-guided mentoring services free of charge to nearly 600 local youth and their families.
“We are tremendously thankful to Dean Brothers for stepping forward as our lead Bowl for Kids’ Sake sponsor again this year,” says BBBS Executive Director Lindsey Douglas. “Each year Bowl for Kids’ Sake highlights a true community effort to ensure that children facing difficult circumstances have the guidance and support of a caring adult to help them rise above their challenges and stay on a path to success.”
An affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the local BBBS agency operates programs in each of the 23 elementary and middle school in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County and serves more children annually than any other BBBS program in the state of Virginia. The local agency staffs nine professional team members with degrees and backgrounds in education, social work, and other human service fields. 100% of the funds raised at Bowl for Kids’ Sake stays in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County to match local youth in professionally-guided, one-to-one mentoring relationships through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
